Now a days everyone and their grandparent has asocial mediaaccount platforms such asFacebook, was classed as a ‘one hit wonder’ well 10 years later it still has our attention making it the most popular account with over1.3 billionactive users all over the world. Why are we all still on the social craze? Simple, it’s unlimited gossip! We've all jumped on the bandwagon following companies, & celebrities trying to keep up to date with the latest trends.
When you scroll through any of your multiple news feeds it’s no surprise to see companies, promoting their brand via one of their multiple seasonal offers. But even they fall victim to the occasional displeased customer, our CEO Steve Lowy recently encountered a not-so favorable experience with a top restaurant chain. Like any modern individual a hand written sentiment wasn’t the first initial thought, instead Steve took to theTwittersphereand directly tweeted his disappointment. Times have changed to air your frustration with companies sending a letter is so 10 years ago!
The power of the tweet proved successful leading to a prompt recovery response from the brand in question, which all resulted in a full apology and a very kind gift. It obvious that we need to be on the Social Media stream, but it’s all about knowing how to use it. The power of Social Media has increased in leaps and bounds since #TeamFollowBack in short platforms such as;Twitter,Facebookand Instagram is a free connection tool for companies to reach out to their customers so why wouldn't you use it? Businesses want their customers to engage with them there is a person sitting behind that account, waiting for a; follow, tweet, poke or like. Just like your customer followers are waiting for some acknowledgement never know you may get a favorite out of it.
We all know customers are more than likely to give their opinion on a bad experience rather than a positive one, as Tripadvisor is a perfect example of phantom critical reviewing. But it’s all about the recovery instead of adding fuel to the fire, extinguish it and save some brand reputation. Some say a little thought goes a long way, well so does a well-thought status.
